Three weeks before the Ramadan fast this year, basic food prices have soared.
Housewives complained about the increase in basic food prices after the General Election.
A buyer, Fatma (46), who shops at Pagar Dewa Market, or what is usually called Pasar Pagi, said that the increase in basic food prices was quite a problem for mothers to complain about.
"Even though the increase is IDR 1,000, it also has an impact on us. Moreover, up to IDR 5 thousand. "Bad food supplies are going up again even though we are going to face fasting and holidays," he complained.
It's not just buyers who are affected by this increase in basic food prices.
But traders felt the impact. Traders admitted they couldn't do anything, because they were only looking for profit.
If a trader's capital to buy basic necessities increases, it means that the trader has to increase the selling price, otherwise the trader will lose money.
"Yes, if capital prices increase, selling prices will also increase," said one of the basic food traders, Roni (38) at the Panorama Traditional Market.
Some of the basic necessities that have risen include chicken meat, then chilies which have soared the most.
Likewise, the price of rice has increased. What was previously IDR 20 thousand increased to IDR 24 thousand.
"(The price, ed) of rice has increased since last week," said Rice Trader, Nur (40) at the Panorama Traditional Market.
In more detail, several basic food prices have increased from RB research, the previous price of chilies was IDR 80 thousand, an increase of IDR 100 thousand per kilo, the previous price of sago flour was IDR 200 thousand, an increase of IDR 300 thousand per sack.
Then the previous price of sugar was IDR 15 thousand, an increase of IDR 17 thousand per kilo, the previous price of cooking oil was IDR 15 thousand, an increase of IDR 18 thousand per liter.
Furthermore, the previous price of garlic was IDR 28 thousand, an increase of IDR 32 thousand per kilo and the previous price of shallots was IDR 23 thousand, an increase of IDR 27 thousand per kilo.
