Levies from vehicle KIR tests in Bengkulu City this year will be abolished.
It is planned that it will be abolished after the new Regional Regulation (Perda) on taxes and levies has been evaluated by the Provincial Government (Pemprov).
Later, the KIR test will be replaced with service fees which will also be included in Bengkulu City's Original Regional Income (PAD).
Head of the Bengkulu City Transportation Department (Dishub), Hendri Kurniawan, said that currently the Transportation Department is still using the old regulations.
"It is true that it will be abolished, and will be replaced with the name service fee, and this will also be included in our PAD," said Hendri.
Until now, the Department of Transportation is still using the old regional regulations to collect levies while waiting for the new regional regulations on taxes and levies to be passed.
"We already proposed it when discussing the draft regional regulation, and we are still waiting for this, as far as I know it is still with the Provincial Government for review," explained Hendri.
This abolition is in accordance with Law (UU) Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments and also Government Regulation (PP) Number 35 of 2023 concerning General Provisions for Regional Taxes and Regional Levies.
"There are regulations and instructions, Law number 1 of 2022, and PP number 35 of 2023, which eliminate KIR levies from PAD income sources," said Hendri.
Hendri explained that to carry out a KIR test, a fee will still be charged but not a KIR levy.
"It's called a service fee, and the amount depends on the classification of the services provided," said Hendri.
By removing the KIR levy, the Transportation Department hopes that people who own vehicles can be more active in checking the condition of their vehicles.
"Because there are no more levies, we hope that the public can carry out the KIR test for driving safety," said Hendri.
